War.
Standing back upon my bruised feet,
I feel solace, as I try to walk,
And I fall back to the sore ground, it holds me deep,
Before the crippled past, grips my thoughts.
the mind flashes people marching up,
with sordid weapons and ugly dreams
Black flags unfurled as the curtains fell,
And I blinded myself to the gleam.
You shot them all, cut them into fragments
and i stood stoned yet shivering hard,
evaluating your dreadful statements;
over and over again; trying to find a heart! !
And then I saw you, turning back to me,
I greeted you with a smile, for death I never dread
It was better to choke, than begging mercy
From hungry wolves, vying for bread.
Then you cut my legs down, I fell
And I could see that wry smile up there,
But you never learnt, what victory felt,
all you knew was blood, and life in the devil's sphere.
Then with shaking hands, I picked my feet,
You laughed hard, but I didn't scream,
And I untied my shoes, soaked dripping red,
You stood quiet, and watched, as i bled.
And before I succumbed, i lent you my shoes
to make you keep your victory splendid,
a tear down your eye,
and you pushed the sword down your neck,
And I saw still, the war had ended
Before I gulped my last breath.
