Melanie Fortenberry Poems

I wear no camoflauge,
No rugged boots;
I wear no medallions
On the lapel of my suit.

The Lord's Army

I wear no camoflauge,
No rugged boots;
I wear no medallions
On the lapel of my suit.
I do not fly planes,
Or drive huge tanks;
I don't anchor gray ships
At foreign banks.
I do not salute;
Instead, I pray.
And the Lord my God
Is who I obey.
My path is now straight,
And I'm not ashamed to say
That in the Lord's army
Is where I will stay.
