No one locked their doors, then.
Baseball games stretched from day to day.
Cap pistol justice rode two-wheeled steeds.
Marbles spun like silent worlds in the sand.

It began with the Big Bang,
scientists tell us;
A massive explosion
that sent cosmic matter streaming
...

hold it carefully in the soft place of the soul
where the darkness has its place
beside the innocent light
...

If water were the only symbol
for power
for birth
for new life

No One Locked Their Doors

No one locked their doors, then.
Baseball games stretched from day to day.
Cap pistol justice rode two-wheeled steeds.
Marbles spun like silent worlds in the sand.
Baptized with summer sweat
Slurping water from grimy hoses,
Finally ringed like gnomes beneath afternoon shade.
And no one ever locked their doors.
