Departure And Dismay

Amber drifts through the atmosphere.
Miles grew farther apart.
You were safe in the balmy wings of an osprey,
I slept through your departure.

Change came in the form
Of a tainted resolution.
Loneliness spread his starvation,
His prolific empire.
Trees lap against
My one dust window pane,
Sounding the language of a liar.
