I Am From
I am from early morning potatoes,
Crispy and warm.
I am from apple pie,
Hot and golden-brown.
I am from the old bronze shoe,
From years past, holding memories.
I am from the old rocking chair,
It's paint chipping from years of use.
I am from 'hurry up', 'clean your room',
And 'i miss you'.
I am from 'dinners ready', 'they're all useless bums! ', and 'run and get more towels'.
I am from the forgotten apple orchard,
Worm ridden, and perfect hiding spots.
I am from late night s'mores around the campfire,
In summer, after a day of running barefoot.
I am from the man who changed my family's name,
When my great-grandparents got off the boat.
I am from England,
Where my ancestors were born.
I am from late night soccer games,
In the dark, uncut grass.
I am from teacups,
Sitting pretty and chipped from age.
I am from a family of proud people,
And a shared love for all.
