Death

I do not fear death, or dying alone.
I’d welcome the end, no wish to postpone.
To bring me to rest at peace and at one.
To sleep now forever, life over and done.

My one real fear is the pain and the suffering.
Eating away at my body and soul.
Making me scream till I pass out with rage.
Ready to rest in a freshly dug hole.

Few people would grieve, eyes would be dry.
Not many would gather for a final goodbye.
I came into this world as a lost soul in need.
Now I’m ready to leave with haste and great speed.
