Mokganedi Tatlhego Poems

1.

And so I clothed my body in black
Marking the pain you once more brought
And for long my voice would crack
Fighting a losing battle with tears’ onslaught
...

In all power and tears I cried
On deaf ears my voice fell
I did cower in fear at times
Sadly my losses still stand
...

It is true that truth is painful despite its good
It is right that lies do help to brighten the bitter night
It is necessary to sometimes stoop to fend the painful truth
It is a fact that most fights lie in hands of little white lies
...

And here we go again
One more phrase to light up your face
Maybe just more to depict rain
A thousand letters to flatten graves
...

Well, winter does turn into summer,
Grey twigs do get the seasonal green
The past does evolve into present
And vocabulary gave birth to the word repetition
...

6.

Feats won and still to be, for as long as you do I also believe in me.
Mountain sunlight rays can shine in places with no hills
As long as one tries and reaches, far inside he succeeds
Mama this is what you said to blunt younger me,
...

If you were a melody
I could already hear the notes floating through your strum
The undemanding all-encompassing notes of an acoustic guitar plucked
Felt from the inner core to the exterior resembling a hearty hum
...

The heart longs to sing and yell his words
Once again pay tribute to the love and lament pain in this world
To chant in appreciation and in love purr
I am the voice that croons these carols in turn
...

Mokganedi Tatlhego Biography

If there were a box and in it i was placed and tasked to label it, two things will transpire, either i will write a never ending description of contents, or i will not know where to start. My brain is a minuscule storage version of the universe. might be the reason why mi writing has no defined direction.)

Death

And so I clothed my body in black
Marking the pain you once more brought
And for long my voice would crack
Fighting a losing battle with tears’ onslaught

Reminiscence of times spent in youthful neglect
The then present that’s now the past as my consciousness reflects
Before the infinite hollow starts and darkness descends
The joyful acts axed short and pain set by this eventual death

As if a startling breeze the sting you bring is unforeseen
Eluding of experts to you is an ever possible deed
And to the meek your creation of loss is all so casual and deep
Leaving their beliefs running so low and lean

And for the tears that wet the cheeks each time you strike
For the heaving chests and breaths gulped every time we cry
The human strength grows with every dawn and ending light
So as you try and yet again strike,
Just stay so informed this is how the human race fights
