Muhammad Moneib Poems

Taking the same old routes,
Tracking the same old traces,
Wearing the same old boots,
Facing the same old faces,
...

Up he the spiral stairs did climb,
With extravagant air of grace,
Not knowing that the face of time,
Steadily crept upon his face;
...

O flowing days of my life,
Broken chain of marbles, blue,
Greatest agony is the strife,
Not knowing what to make of you;
...

We felt fear to the uttermost:
A man feared more than any ghost,
Whose army of loyalists and allies
Worshiped him and believed his lies;
...

I'm just a chess piece,
on a chess board,
carrying a gun,
carrying a sword.

Rat Races

Taking the same old routes,
Tracking the same old traces,
Wearing the same old boots,
Facing the same old faces,
That I do bear no more.

Passing by every day,
Swirling the trap-like mazes,
Dazzling brain gone astray,
Counting repeated phases,
My everlasting bore.

Fleeing a truth so flat,
Dreaming of better places
Woken by fellow rats,
Racing in trifling races,
No rat had won before.
