nadia louise Poems

you're walking home past city lights
rain-spilled windows, sky-blue kites
you are no hero, drenched in cloud
it hurts to speak, the pain's too loud
...

bare feet moving across the stone cold floor
your hands are shaking, but you can't figure out why
take a breath, and another, until you suffocate in air
you don't know who you are.

Maybe You Weren't A Hero

you're walking home past city lights
rain-spilled windows, sky-blue kites
you are no hero, drenched in cloud
it hurts to speak, the pain's too loud

hands in pockets, tearstained lips
the sky soon darkens; moon's eclipse
sunflowers lie wilted in your hand
ribcage trembling; you can barely stand

you cross the bridge whilst looking down
cars speed like bullets; they own this town
lights run like daylight, burning red
your thoughts are screaming in your head

the grass is sad now, wind is still
hands are frozen, life's no thrill
keep them safe, ones you love most
you are no hero; you are just a ghost.

you climb the mountain, watch the sun
while they're all sleeping, you run and run
this is your place, you are truly free
unbreakable lock, but you have the key

sunlight breaks past the years of grey
try forgiving those who did not stay
you close your eyes, they're made of stars
you whisper softly, 'this is ours.'

dark constellations lie above
do they approve of who you love?
you are a misfit, don't fit in place
spinning in circles, lost in space

skin is tinged with rainbow ink
freckled noses, cheeks shine pink
your heart is a diamond, right is wrong
you gather your courage, and go on strong
