My Defeat

A spark of ego within me unruly
Ignited by my imperious thoughts
Turning my mind to calefactory
Destroyed the me who I was

Genesis of an unknown peregrination
From one reticular space to another
I thought I would reach my destination
To ask someone, I did not bother

I came so far, driven by my vanity
I became a tramontane in my own land
Before I could realise I lost my sanity
I was entangled in an obscure pattern of sand

I set out to conquer the Sun's auriferous eye
Thinking I would achieve this splendid feat
But I could not even besiege the sky
Oh my pythonic ego - the reason for my defeat
