The Mistake You Made

I screamed and called out for you,
Never did you look back to see
Me as I was dragged away.

Absinthe was poured into me,
Sparks were sent through my spine,
Tears and blood were washed away
But scars were left behind.

Now I return as a monster to view,
With matted hair and blistered eyes,
Jagged fingernails I've used to cut myself,
And you don't even look surpised.

My whole life you have nothing,
Nothing but tie and bind me down.

Wrists bleed at the ring of rope,
Bruises form against my flesh,
I've been trained to not make a sound.

You hate that I know you so well,
Confront you with your very own ways.
I know exactly how to hurt you,
I am the monster you made.

Say I'm sick and twisted,
But I am no broken toy,
You are still lying,
Using your 'concern', the decoy.


The horizon breaks into pieces,
You bust your knuckles on glass,
But these shards underneath my skin
Feel like rain compared to the past.

You do not strike fear into my being,
Certainly not like you once did.
I will lay here on the ground
With your image on my eyelids.


I will remember that look of rage
Forever.

And I will know I didn't back down,
Even though you stole my life
As if killing me would make me better.
