English Christmas

I’d heard you tell
Of carols sweetly sung
...

Was there ever Railway Row,
Stone houses in a long low line

English Christmas

I’d heard you tell
Of carols sweetly sung
By the faithful come
To church in Dingley Dell

I had to come and see
Your English Christmas
Joy; peace, the
Baubled, lighted tree

Great expectations of
Plum pudding all ablaze
Following the feast
Of fleshy festive geese

And lo! Cousin Joe
Uncle Jack and Nellie
Greetings! Welcome!
“What’s on telly? ”
