My Friends In Deed

I'm pining away for friends I dont have
Defending those (who dont give a damn) against a stone wall

I'm lurking in the shadows of all that's past
Hoping even those sweet-turning-bitter memories would forever last,
I'm trying out for a role that was never cast
surrounded by an ocean of thoughts so vast.
to save myself from truth's cold blast

hated, cunning, conniving, cruel, dread and many more words unread
fully describe your nature my 'friends'

all conspiring, taking me off track, mocking me for the sincerity I lack,
finally with the aim washed away from the sands of my mind
like an eagle gone blind
they are showing me their faces, how very kind! ! !

with this I'm giving the mast of my sinking ship a last glance,
whispering firmly to my ever so fluttering heart,
just to hold on fast,
