I've Got To Tell My Story

I've got to write down my story
while it's still in my memory.
The truth has to come out
before I'm no longer about.

I've just got to tell my story

I have done my share of living
and I have too many misgivings.
The time has come for me to tell
before someone sends me to hell.

I've just got to tell my story.

People will think that I am lying
but that won't stop me from trying.
The world has a right to know
before it's time for me to go.

I've just got to tell my story.

There are people in high places
who want to get rid of all traces
of their bribery and corruption,
protection and violent disruption.

I've just got to tell my story.

I've got to find somewhere to hide
a car has just pulled up outside.
Four suited men have just got out
and their intentions leave no doubt.

I've just got to tell my story.

There is no escaping from where I am
and I'm certainly in a jam.
They have filled the bath with water
am I really ready for slaughter?

I've just got to tell my story.

I think they know where to find me
a spiritual form is how they'd like me to be.
Wait a minute I think they are leaving the house.
For now I'm free and able to squeal like a mouse.

I've just got to tell my story.

I think I'll get my day in court
if I'm not in the mean time caught.
The police have are knocking at my door
and now they've thrown me to the floor.

I've just got to tell my story.

I am not going to be able to tell my story
the police have their handcuffs on me.
They have told me that I'm going on a journey
so that I can become lost in history.
