You May Not Have Been My Brother

You may not have been my brother,
But you were just the same to me.
You were always by my side,
Even if we didn’t agree.
You were never far away, close enough to touch.
That has all changed now, but I still love you very much.

I still remember the first day we met.
You were sitting by yourself, and had no friends.
I said hello, but you didn’t say a word.
You were so quite, softer than a bird.
In class, we would sit together,
But we still hardly even knew each other.

Then one day all things changed,
When you said hello back,
And we started to hang.
We would talk all class,
Always getting into trouble.
But that didn’t matter because we got over it in a double.

Everyday was an adventure, with you by my side.
Always leading the way. You were my guide.
But now it’s different, with you not here.
Because its no fun, without you near.
It feels like yesterday, when you left me alone.
But I will always remember our last talk on the phone.
You said you were so excited, to see me at school,
Because you had a present for me that was super cool.

The next time I saw you, you were fast asleep,
Never to open your eyes, or even speak.
The present you gave me, I will always love.
I wear it everyday; I hope you see that from above.
