Beauty Within

She rolled out of bed the usual way
The sound of the alarm to start the day
Her body ached as she began to rise
She's getting older, the pain never lies
She approached the mirror and saw her face
A sight she doesn't always like to embrace
Her eyes looked tired, there was no doubt
Wrinkles were forming all throughout
A reflection of her life is what appeared
Every stress and worry she had endeared
The outter beauty she once had, hidden by signs of wear
An image almost to much for her to bare
She closed her eyes and placed her hand on her heart
For her inner beauty had not fallen apart
Her compassion, love and understanding have never gone away
And this will remain till her dying day
She opened her eyes and looked again
Remembering that true beauty lies within
