A Needed Visit To A Bricklayer
One hot afternoon about two-thirty or three
(as if arranged) a ladybug's stop scheduled me.
My heart wanted August's drought and dog-days to end:
It was so humid-hot that haze hid the razed trees
And would tap all our sap before the day's fag end.
Lost looking at the ladybug, I had to smile....
Wonder lit my soul's electrolyte-life awhile:
Black-paint dots on sturdy red shells encasing wings
That shuttle this visitor daily more than miles
To make several of these innocent callings
Was more than I could handle without a chuckle.
I knew my aching ...
