My Lady Of York

I traveled to a place of age and wonder
A great walled city no one could plunder
With a fair maiden from a distant land
Three thousand miles to hold my hand
Her hair shone like gold, it stole the sun
With smile so bright I could never run

Then we walked round Yorks great wall
Knowing in love with you I could only fall
Arm in arm through the swarming crowd
My heart so full, my smile so proud
Slowly strolling down through the Shambles
In my heart and mind there are no gambles

Open your mind and sense the history
This love we feel there is no mystery
Before us now the Minster's there
I dare you my lady climb the stair
As we stand and gaze above the town
In your love I fear, I must surely drown

We walk some more, you smell a flower
The Minster watches over feel its power
Alas you must return to distant shores
Take my heart because now is yours
So heart broken, I can barely talk
I pray for your return My Lady Of York
