It's a long way we travel
As we navigate the road ahead
With our path at the fall of the gavel
In what's in store you dared

He trudged through the mud
Taking messages through the war's crud
He now was a trusted German soldier
Once a failed Austrian artist before the world became colder

It's just a set of words that I own
One that should be mine alone
But they are just words
That were given early when birth occurred

There can be times
When it's all on the line
And making decisions
Can create divisions
...

Each day I sit and think of you
A time a place and a thing you did too
Our yesterdays were our golden time
When you were here and still mine
...

Have you felt the need to be strong
When it would be so easy just to sing along
Where you feel no one's on your side
And you're goin to burst from inside
...

A ship of fools we sailed ahead
We sailed ahead our captain dead
Recruited each and everyone
But there were press-ganged some
...

Coppers can be be difficult to know
And have feelings we try not to show
We aren't easy to love so I'm told
And we sure can be hard to hold
...

I've been down on my knees
He said in a voice not to please
And there are things I'd rather forget
I think of things some good and yet

I liked my hair
Especially now it's not there
So wavy and dark
Combing it was such a lark
