So far she slips, away again;
Over the edge and down she falls.
Deep into a lifeless glen;
'Tis there she waits - from darkness calls.

Why bring such pain to those we love so dear?
The day you heard their voice first sing, why rue,
When heart and mind does yearn to feel them near
And eyes would light the stars to see them through?
...

She longs to touch the farthest lands,
The ice-capped tops, the salt-soaked sands.
Her longing makes him better fare
To know her craving brown eyes bear
