FOREVER AJAR
The Song Before Tavren & Gorvahl Meet
[Intro — nearly whispered; distant low strings, wind across stone]
Something intrinsic—
something older than thought—
stirred beneath their crackled exteriors.
Recognition's unknowingness
struck flints of wordless certitude.
A knowing never learned,
requiring neither reason nor remembrance.
Wordless certitude became keeper
of that which neither could name…
yet neither could unknow.
[Verse I — Tavren's footfall enters beneath low cello]
Echoes' forememory
wombed a yetborn reverberance.
Breath's unutterance
bided betwixt essence and emergence.
Stone's Sovereign Gravity
curved another's unwitting horizon.
Ember's inburn
waxed beyond quietude…
Sempernal burn exhaled silence.
[Pre-Chorus — a second, distant pulse begins]
Their betwixtance—
a beholdment of stillness' quickening…
an unbeheld underthrum.
Beforebeing
bespoke consentience.
[Chorus — restrained at first, widening rather than exploding]
Winglessness bore
a skyward inclination…
Outwards' reach
beckoning far within.
Selfken upwelled—
yetnamed.
Ownward they fared—
nighward nonetheless.
[Verse II — distant wingbeat joins Tavren's footfall]
Elseborn Brontides—
elsekin, yet unknown…
The midwelkin overheard
their distant thunder.
Thunder's Hush
ripened soundward…
Forefelt,
though neither knew why.
[Build — footfall and wingbeat remain separate rhythms]
Footfall knew
the world underfoot.
Wingbeat knew
the open above.
Each's measure
altered none.
Both Silences' Counterpoints
ricocheted in parallel accord…
Apartness remained.
Nearness gathered.
[Bridge — instrumentation falls almost completely away]
Shadow preceded presence…
Forepresence
lay beyond knowing.
Existence
abided between…
Distance awaited.
[Pause]
Vergance reciprocates…
Unknowingly.
[Final Rise — immense orchestral expansion, but no triumphant resolution]
Beholdings'—
Recognition's unknowingness
struck once more…
Not remembrance.
Not need.
Not the finding
of something once missing.
[Everything drops beneath the vocal]
Oneness's Own inheres.
Complete I be.
Internals' Flame whispers—
More…
[long pause]
Unwritten…
though it be,
leaves Forever ajar.
[Outro — one footfall; one distant wingbeat; neither sees the other yet]
Forever…
ajar.
