Some people say goodbye
like goodbye means going away,
but you and I found better words
for things the heart can't say.
Four little letters wandered in,
and somehow they became
a language only we could know,
a love without a name.

For goodbye sounds much too final,
and forever's much too far—
so I'll meet you somewhere later,
wherever later's are.
