1 Littles Poem by Edith Niemeyer

1 Littles

[When The Littles Dream]
[Penned for Aurelith, Pip, Lumi, Bristle, Fawn & Tangle]
[Verse 1]

When moonlight settles on mushroom rings,
And fireflies polish their tiny wings,
The forest hushes, the shadows gleam,
Waiting softly for Littles to dream.
Aurelith curls where the lavender grows,
Moonlight silvering antlers and toes,
She closes her eyes as the night drifts near,
Wrapped in a whisper no darkness can hear.
[Pre-Chorus]
Hush now, hush now,
Stars are listening too,
Every little heartbeat
Has a constellation shining through.
[Chorus]
Sleep, little dragons, sleep beneath the moon,
Morning is far and the night came too soon.
Fold up your wings, let the starlight stay,
Dream until the darkness carries itself away.
Six little sparks in an endless sky,
Six little dreams learning how to fly.
Safe in the forest where the fireflies gleam,
Nothing can find you
When The Littles dream.
[Verse 2]
Pip wears an acorn tipped sideways just so,
Nodding to music only Pip seems to know,
One sleepy squeak and a wiggle or two,
Then off among clouds where the wild wishes grew.
Lumi glimmers with a star on her brow,
Quietly humming some night-song now,
Fireflies gather like notes in the air,
And Lumi dreams music is everywhere.
[Verse 3]
Bristle lies deep in a moss-covered nest,
Fern leaves tucked gently across his chest,
A grin still hiding where daylight had been—
Dreaming of mischief he'll start up again.
Fawn curls small beneath mushrooms aglow,
Speckled like moonbeams on new-fallen snow,
Listening close to the old woodland tune,
Antlers held softly beneath the blue moon.
[Verse 4]
Tangle is buried in clover and vine,
Leaves in a crown that twist and entwine,
One little eye almost opens to see—
Was that a star... or a firefly tree?
Then back into dreams with a fluttering sigh,
While silver clouds wander lazily by.
[Bridge]
And somewhere beyond where the tall shadows sway,
The forest keeps watch till the breaking of day.
Roots hold the earth,
And branches hold sky,
While dreams grow their wings
Without asking why.
If one Little wakes
When the others sleep deep,
The moon leaves a lantern
For that Little to keep.
No need to be frightened,
No need to know when—
Close your eyes gently,
And find them again.
[Final Chorus]
Sleep, little dragons, sleep beneath the moon,
Morning will find you, but not quite so soon.
Fold up your wings, let the starlight stay,
Dream until the darkness carries itself away.
Aurelith, Pip, Lumi,
Bristle, Fawn, Tangle too—
Six little hearts beneath skies of blue.
Safe in the forest where the fireflies gleam,
Loved beyond measure
When The Littles dream.
[Outro — very softly]
One star is blinking...
One mushroom glows...
One tiny dragon
Wiggles its toes.
Five Littles sleeping...
But somewhere between—

One pair of little eyes opens...

"Did everybody go to sleep but me? " ✨
