~ Give Me ~
give me strength and courage
to face the day ahead.
give me wisdom
with every words I speak.
give me patience,
as I comfort the sick and weak.
give me assurance,
as the day slips into night.
That I have done the best I can,
that I have done what is right.
Give to my heart,
compassion and understanding.
Give to my hands,
skill and tenderness.
Give to my ears
the ability to listen.
Give to my lips
words of comfort.

Yours is a universal prayer, perhaps an extension of the so-called Serenity Prayer that goes 'God grant me the serenity to accept those things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.' I forget the author's last name. Auguste, I believe, was his first name. Could be wrong, though. Best regards, G
