2 Bitter 4 Talking Poem by Adam Thoms

2 Bitter 4 Talking

I'm tired of this: just enough luck to plant one kiss, and then gone.
Step up to bat, swing and miss what went wrong?

I'd like to know the reason for
What's on my plate leaves me hungry for more
I'd like to think I could settle the score by myself
These odds won't help.

Life left me coal in my stocking,
This Christmas eve left me too bitter for talking
This medicine left me too dead to care
Go on ahead and I'll meet you there I might not
I'll see what I've got

Left in
My skin
Why can't I win
Tonight

I'm breaking the mold
The reaction I get makes my blood run cold
I'm anything but sold
Not a sheep in the herd and how dare I be bold
I wish I could just fold
Or at least find a way to turn my nothing to gold

I'd like to know the reason for
What's on my plate leaves me hungry for more
I'd like to think I could settle the score by myself
These odds won't help.

Life left me coal in my stocking,
This Christmas eve left me too bitter for talking
This medicine left me too dead to care
Go on ahead and I'll meet you there I might not
I'll see what I've got

Left in
My skin
Why can't I win
Tonight

I'm taller than trees,
But your skyscrapers are blocking the light from which I feed
I'm stronger than greed,
But this camera lense distorts wants from the needs.
I'm bored with what I see,
Trapped in the cage I just long to be free.
I'm sick of redundancy,
These words all the same from page one to page three.
If only life were that easy a read,
then I could rest easy.

I'd like to believe that things can change.
I'm scared and would rather stay the same.
I'd like to take a chance
Show the world my hand
Maybe prove that I'm a man
I'd just rather you'd take my hand.

Life left me coal in my stocking,
This Christmas eve left me too bitter for talking
This medicine left me too dead to care
Go on ahead and I'll meet you there I might not
I'll see what I've got

Left in
My skin
Why can't I win
Tonight

It's not your fault that I'm like this
It's really none of your business
It doesn't have to ruin your Christmas.
