2012 - Poem by Lucy Nott
Two weeks of energy, shining and delight
National pride for anyone to bite,
Share in the glory, the work and the toile
Highs and lows, willing to succeed.
The fireworks have fallen,
The crowds have dispersed,
The trains are all filled now
The airports fit to burst.
Off back to countries, far and wide
Back to the reality
Back to the norm.
But left is slow burning
Not a bright flash of light,
It is the hunger of a nation
So filled with that delight,
To keep moving forward
To keep the games alight
People are dreaming
The legacy is bright.
So pack up the suitcases
Find your way home
But keep on dreaming
Together no one stands alone.
