HAPPY Mother's Day


I came in with
a sharp cry
only you, you alone
were by my side -

not a word you spoke
as you held me tight
not wanting to let go
surveying whether I was all right-

my eyes opened
the world was in sight
you I knew not
both by day and night-

decades have spoken
by then your life had lost all its light
to my childhood I returned in tears
like when as a baby I first cried.
