2084 Poem by Monique Leo

Rating: 4.0

Midnight in November 2084
What's it like to be sure about anything anymore?
Everyday there's nothing more
Than a screen blaring from nine to four.
All that seems left is just a bore.
Nothing excites us anymore.

What once was a tool to seize the day
Is now the pain from yesterday.
Who are you? Is that you?
I want you to see that you are much more than they view.
It all started 30 years age
It seemed all too harmless then.
Who could have guessed what would happen next.
Through a screen you force them to take the bait
On what you had last night on your plate.
Checkmate!
Is this news? Or is it all fun?
Whatever the case I bet they wish that they could have some.

Fast forward, do you hear the trumpets?
What to trust? What to do?
Are they all puppets?
Is that really there? Is that really why?
Should I believe this corrupted guy?
Believe in science! In science we believe!
But are they really in alliance with the true science?
The science of being, the science of seeing
Is this all make believe to stop the masses from fleeing?
The planets, the galaxies
This is the truth they say
Here are our findings,
There is nothing we are hiding.
Although you have not seen us discover,
You must believe,
Because you simply do not have the tools to uncover.

Air as clean as smoke
Almost enough for you to choke.
And watch what you drink
It will stop you from trying to think.
Making us all sick
Is it now starting to click?
Life is not fair
They will record you when you fall down the stairs.
But don't worry, forget the fluoride stares
It is not like anyone is really there.
