22nd Century Poem by Mason Maestro

22nd Century

Can you perceive it, the day it made headlines
It took the form of a trampled flag on a city street
shouldn't want it, the digits offering we
Embedded bar code, quick ID, complete

See it's the 22nd century digital age
It's come on much too soon and now it's center stage
The news for lazy upper-middle class intellectuals
The lower one's on alcohol, so ineffectual
It's gotten so systemic

We had told you about hype and no shrine
Now we're hanging on a brand new line
Then we told you about a shooter's barricade
And then we took it from the hand it was made

See it's the 22nd century digital age
It's come on much too soon and now it's center stage
The news for lazy upper-middle class intellectuals
The lower one's on alcohol, so ineffectual
It's gotten so systemic
