30 Minutes Before Sleep…
- By Raj Kashyap

Cancer cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot conquer the spirit.

My epidermis blushed azure,
Lips dried like a vampire,
Lymphocytes seized my soul,
Stains of henna coated my hand.

Contrary machines devising a tune,
Entire heaven offset with tears,
Cozy mattress giving me solace,
I was twinkling like a bald moon.

Nightmares revealing sweet memories,
Hallucinations seems to tickle me,
My platelets broke up with me,
And death too had to catch his train.

Needle sucking my gore kissing gently,
A nurse there ready to whisper a tale,
Stethoscope listing the drum rolls steadily,
My lungs wheezing out loud desperately.

It was all freezing like in Antarctica,
Having no desire of victuals at all,
The past beats inside me like a second,
Heart, Human: not places, make memories.

I still think of the day, I went to school,
Crying loud, the day I won a marathon,
The day, I saw my first love, the day I failed,
In class test, the day I knew what puberty is.

The day I first learn how to swim, the day,
I learn to cook an egg, the way l loved,
Science, learning about wbc's, the day,
I learn about what the shit leukemia is.

I still think of the day, I make you proud;
Mom, still can't get over my first date,
Life is most likely a rainbow, you need
Both sun & rain to make it color appear.

The fear of death follows from the,
Fear of life, a man who lives fully,
Is prepared to die at any time.
Now, this is the hour for me to sleep.

Cancer can't suppress memories,
Can't steal eternal life & destroy piece.
Cancer can't corrode faith & love,
It can't shatter hope and courage.

Our life, our planet is a stage,
We all are playing our role,
Definitely, we will return again,
As a new character, as a new soul.

Extremely poignant poem of the internal suffering cancer brings, as well as the hope you share.
