626. To Be Grateful To You 230712

Rating: 4.5

The whole life span is not adequate
To be grateful for the gifts
Thou have showered upon me
For the complex but perfect body
The awful miracle in the creation!
For the health I have been enjoying
Even a small scratch on a little finger
How it troubles with a pain that lingers
But among the countless accidents
Nothing dares to touch me in any incident
Among the numerous variety of diseases
Only a few curable ones play their roles!

A nice life companion who fully supports
My spiritual quest and quenches my inner thirst
Very good kids not nagging for trivial things
Helping mother who blesses my spiritual musings
Peaceful home; constant flow of Laxmi's grace
What else is needed to tread Your foot trace?

But the pull of my ego and its strong stages
Anger, hatred and lust upon which it dances
Inside my mind and heart and its intentions
Are beyond my little logic's grasp
It stings me like a deadly wasp
I am tortured by its whips
Only grip is Your name on my lips

Devi what is the use of Your gifts many?
If You please take them away
Give me only one thing - WISDOM
To go further to enter Your kingdom
This ignorance I can't bear anymore!
Without which I know not being grateful! ! 230712

Shri HarivanshRai Bachan, the great poet father of Amitabh wrote a master piece poem which states, Hai Andheri Raat Par, Deepak Jalaana Kab Manaa Hai? which means, The Night Indeed is Dark, but when was Lighting a Lamp ever forbidden? ; i see that Lamp referred to here in your poem; people say everything is dark, cruel etc; your positive declarations to my Mother are real heart pourings; in Durga Suktam stanza 4 it goes like Vishvaani no durghaa jathaveda sindhunaa nava durithathi parshi, Agne athrivan manasaa grina no asmakam bodhayithwa thanoo naam...means Oh Agni who is the destroyer of all sins, take us beyond all evil and obstacles like a boatman who ferries people across the river. Prayers as seen in your poems are the Boats which definitely will take you to a higher level...well done
