I look in the mirror,
And I can’t believe,
It’s me that I see,
It wasn’t supposed,
To be like this,
It wasn’t supposed,
To happen to us,
It was,
Never meant to be,
I gave my heart,
And soul to you,
Only to have it,
Disregarded,
So I confide in myself,
As I wash away,
What’s left of myself,
The clouds hanging over head,
Dreary and dull,
Everyday,
I gaze into the distance,
And watch the children,
Frolic and play,
And know that it,
Can never be,
I watch my life pass by,
As if in slow motion,
And remember it,
Like it was yesterday,
When I found you,
Lying there,
I felt the rage build,
Deep inside of me,
As I cursed myself,
For letting this be,
And I watched you leave,
Hoping it couldn’t be real,
You where my chosen one,
And I let it all slip away,
It was all in vain,
Now numb to the touch,
I feel the life,
Slip out of me,
A void fills,
Where my heart once stood,
Emptiness feels my soul,
I do not know,
If I can make it on,
My journey called life,
I saw the rising sun,
And thought it shone,
Oh so bright for us,
The red colors of the Phoenix,
Rising through the ashes,
To bring about the new,
And I look deep inside,
What’s left of me,
And try to decide,
How to go on,
That smiling face,
That joyful laugh,
It’s not there anymore,
Just a cold white gaze,
That stares,
But never satisfies,
Yet so peaceful and serene,
So surreal,
That this is what it is,
Everyday,
I flash back to that moment,
The image etched in my brain,
Forever and ever,
Playing in my memory,
Every passing moment,
I wish that I could go back,
And say that one thing,
That would change your mind,
Yet I take no blame,
Even though,
I always thought,
There was so much more,
Then met the eye,
I tried my best for you,
And I failed,
Now I’m left,
With the hurt and pain,
Of a broken heart,
That’s been shattered like glass,
I look for replacement,
But nothing quite compares,
To the smile you brought,
Now I look into the mirror,
And I can’t believe,
It’s me I see…
