4 a.m. love poem
is it bad that i find you more attractive under the moon?
not that you're not beautiful in the daytime,
just that in the sunlight your skin glows with pride,
but, my monotone boy,
that is not what you are.
at night you are radiant,
and brave, and keep your head high
while you think of good words
and whisper them to me like you're praying.
at night you are calm, at night
you are the king of this place
and at night you take risks,
like holding my hand or pulling me closer.
i wait all day to feel closer to you
under a moon that's so far away.
