A Bittersweet Goodbye Poem by Suzan Kamau

A Bittersweet Goodbye

A Bittersweet Goodbye
In this bittersweet moment, we gather near,
With heavy hearts, we shed a tear.
We hate to see you spread your wings,
But your journey is where the hope of growth springs.

You've taught us lessons, big and small,
That we can improve, and rise after a fall.
Through your smiles and your open hearts,

You've shown us how to play our parts.
With each check-in and every shared laugh,
You've guided us on a better path.

Your spirit has lifted, inspired, and led,
More than we dreamed, you've filled us with dread.
So as you embark on your new adventure,

Know that your impact will always endure.
With gratitude, we wave you goodbye,
For in our hearts, you'll always fly high.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Mentorship is one of the most satisfying journeys—watching mentees grow, thrive, and step into their potential brings a deep sense of pride. Yet, when it's time for them to move on, it's always a bittersweet moment. While you celebrate their success, a part of you wishes the journey together could last just a little longer.
