A Bleeding Heart Poem by sydney carter

A Bleeding Heart

It's lost in the shadows,
It's hiding in the dark,
Oh what have you done
To my bleeding heart.

You shattered it to pieces,
and now you walk over them too,
You made it bleed an ocean,
wasn't that enough for you?

You never saw the pain,
Nor the tears in my heart,
You didn't blink an eyelid,
As you ripped it apart.

And lest you're afraid,
You might have missed a spot,
not one of your arrows missed my heart.

I won't let them heal,
I'll let the scars remain,
Reminding me never
to fall in love again.

As a million tears roll down my face,
I writhe about in pain,
Unable to bear it anymore, I reach for a knife,
I hope at last, now you can smile.
