A Brag...A Jest! Poem by Jude Ogunade

A Brag...A Jest!

Rating: 3.5

A Brag…A Jest!
(A politician's whispering)

I went to the store,
Not far from a shore.

To buy myself Sure,
To make myself ‘pure'!

Wearing a pleasant odour
I walked around in ardour

Wrapped in 'shining armour'
Beaming pleasant allure!

Yes, I am your quatrain,
Sent by law for your restraint.

For four years I am your pain.
Which to me is a great gain!

The light I promised is a lie.
Whilst you struggle for a pie,

I relish delicious dishes,
With sumptuous shrimps and fishes.

My mates are termites and many mites,
Feasting on you is our joyous rites.

With our might and our sumptuous bites,
To our gula; no end in sight!

Hahaha, laughing to the beaches,
With my arms full of peaches!

With bevies at my beck and call,
Mind not my not picking your calls.

Hmn? ! Did you say your roads are tattered?
Hmn? ! Wait until your homes are shattered!

'Crazy demonstration'
Is a sweet deception.

Lies in your perception.
Lies for your destruction!

But your 'book' said a tiny crumb,
Will make you all content and plump!

Whilst I cart the cash away,
To a country far away!

Your God forgives me every day!
Your prayers always make my day.

I have the money and the link,
With which I bribe with just a blink!

For all you know you all don't think!
Your church has blocked your thinking thing!

I reel in copious revel,
I keel in dubious level!

The spate of rampant stealing and corruption by politicians in Africa is alarming...whilst the populace is fed 'dope' in religions and rituals!
