A Call Away Poem by Eugene Frazier

A Call Away

There are many times I would sit alone
Wishing that heaven had a telephone
It would be so nice if I had the choice
To call you up and listen to your voice

Not a day goes by I don't shed a tear
And it breaks my heart because you're not here
I never dreamed of a life without you
Nor imagined these things I'm going through

If I could just call every now and then
It would make my life feel complete again
My pulse would be racing, my heart would pound
While I sat there waiting to hear your sound

I'd cling to every word you said to me
And wish the whole time your face I could see
When it was time for us to say good bye
I know in my heart I would start to cry

I'd want to reach out and grab onto you
And with all of my strength pull you back through
But I know that you're in a better place
And one day I'll be with you face to face

Until that day phone calls would have to do
And be my way to stay in touch with you
When it comes to this I am not alone
Many down here wish heaven had a phone
