A Candle Poem by Bibin Antony

A Candle

A candle floating always knows,
The danger of dying in what it flows;
The current gently carries it along,
The wind offering a melancholy song.

The gentle breeze feeds vigorous life,
The water laps at the side - the sharpest knife;
Flickering flames throws shadows into the night,
The wick chokes under the fire's might.

The melting wax drips - one at a time,
Like tears at the sound of church bell chimes
When loved ones into the earth go down,
O' I watch my candle slowly drown.
