A Challenge Poem by Charlotte Ballard

A Challenge

An easy one,
This,
A challenge
Given over
Coffee and sweet
Buns, bitten into
Easy,
Sure,
Sure,
Choose your life.
That's all,
Commit to it
As with no matter -
If you leap bonelessly
Into shockingly cold
Streams of nouns
Tickled by adjectives
Going upstream to breed.
Hold back, the writer
Dies by inches and
Minutes and not
By the editor's pen
Snapped across a page
Full of blood and tripe.
Kiss me, Kate
For -
I don't know how
Tall the cliff is
Or how
Long
I'll be gone.
