A Chasm Poem by Fritha Glegg

A Chasm

There is nothing
Now you're gone.

Emptiness and loneliness
Are what I'm meant to feel but,
There's nothing.

I am a shell,
An image of what I was and think.
I am nothing.

How am I supposed to live, to think, to feel
When inside me there is a dark chasm
Where there used to be a heart.

Some say, that you broke my heart.
You didn't.
You merely took it.

There is nothing
Now you're gone.
