A Chickadee's Philosophy Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

A Chickadee's Philosophy

A chair to rock and dream my life away
Curtains thrown wide, let in the light
Let me decide how ever-prying eyes

This is the station where I get off
Destination- come what may, let it be
Liberty lies in knowing what is enough
Respect this path, my need to be free

The folks will clamor, worry and wonder
Just let me watch the wheels go round
I'm not held by the spell you're under
Don't measure me by what you've found

Chickadee- your nimble fluttering dance
I smile as you steal a seed from the Jay
You do not decry your circumstance
You do what you must and then fly away
