A Child Of 23 Degree Axial Time Poem by Dr Sarat Sonowal

A Child Of 23 Degree Axial Time

Rating: 4.0

Antiquity the Iron Age
Dark plague and ringa-ringa-roses
Spinning round and round
The 23 degree axial grace

Hiding celestial mystery
Magical boy of a fantasy tale

A caged nightingale
Whimsical and paranoid
Lost in the mythical forest
Of fireflies and heavenly sky
I have dreamt of it all
Of a future never too sure
Tsunamis and earthquakes
Collapsing economies
And a fighting crores

Barren lands and barren thoughts
Nuclear age! Destructive and volatile
You! Not blind
But, whimsical and paranoid
A child of 23 degree axial time

Rich with symbolism and haunting imagery, the poem beautifully captures anxiety, mystery, and the uncertainty of modern times
