A Child's Bath (For My Son Eric) Poem by Jon Ojala

A Child's Bath (For My Son Eric)

Rating: 5.0

Buzzards in the bathroom,
Dragons in the sink,
A walrus in the hamper,
The penguins stop to think.

Falcons on the towel rack,
The monkeys want to eat,
Minnows swimming merrily
round and round my feet.

The soap is doing back flips
As he hurdles through the air,
Dogfish chasing catfish,
A mongoose climbs the stairs.

Everything is ready,
Everyone is here.
All my friends are visiting,
Mom is safely near.

The water gently warming,
Bubbles high and low,
Splashing as we're washing,
Laughing as we go.

Too soon the party's over,
The water's down the drain,
But we'll be back tomorrow,
For bath time once again.
