A Commute A Poem By Nokutenda Mupamombe

I take a sit in the minibus
Another entity comes beside
We both look at our phones
And simultaneously put on our earphones

In front i see minions
I mean school children
Two of them, cuties, kind of like penguins
They seem so unbothered in their tiny uniforms
They have been dressed up to conform
Denied of any other form

Likewise i am in formal
On my way to work
Harbouring no enmity
To the system forcing me to conformity

I focus my attention back to the tunes
Hearing every musical piece
Realising i just made my day a masterpiece
I will now retreat to be a spectator
Savouring my peace
