Voyage Poem by Nokutenda Mupamombe

Voyage

I used to think i would drown
I wanted to be sad and kill the clown
So i embarked on conscious voyage
A rarity for someone my age
But i felt i needed to change
To be a real eagle or maybe a falcon
Point is I'm a cool bird and i was in a cage

I exited to go within
I reached a huge vast sea
Vivid blue as far as the eyes can see

With me was a raft
A materialisation of my imaginative craft
I would come to suffer and gloat
At a point jumping in hoping to sink
Quickly without wasting a moment to think

I suffered more realising i float
I climbed back onto the raft hoping to rot
Before i could gloat the raft turned into a boat
