A Coward's Cry Poem by Michael Ordia

A Coward's Cry

Rating: 5.0

If I could make you see
The depth of my heart with your prints on it
Carved perfectly round the walls, the reason I breathe
If I could make you listen
To my unspoken thoughts and my unheard words
To my unanswered prayers and my misunderstood gestures
You will hear your name in each line.
If I could make you understand how I feel
With you, I feel human and alive.
Forgive my cowardice, whenever I'm with you
My body trembles and my throat chokes my voice
I can't tell you how I feel.
With each passing day I fade
Our bodies so close yet our souls so far
I might be forgotten soon, many handsome men come your way.
I will always love you from the shadows
And if heavens grant my only wish
I would love to hear you say
"Michael... I love you"
