A Cup Of Tea Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

A Cup Of Tea

Feeling - you know
It is a feeling -
sometimes I go into a shell
and I doubt whether I will come out.
I doubt because the shell is so stout and stubborn -
I need to break it to speak out
and to get my feelings out into the blue.
I see my reflection in water in the backdrop of the sky -
yes, my reflection, like me yet not me,
all I see is reflection and I try to figure out,
me or you or the milieu; the noise, the grandeur,
all the lectures, in print or out of print,
buzzword, social media, pictures -
they all reflect as you make out.
How much you make out -
only a part of it makes meaning,
the rest goes to dust, yes dust.
I see and I see - this endless seeing has no meaning,
yet so meaningful to me.
I stand, I stare, I look, and sometimes I feel,
then my heart is just water -
reflections trembling -
a cup of tea falls on the ground.
