A Dance Over The Graves Poem by Adeoye Adetoba

A Dance Over The Graves

Drums made taut with human skins,
Trumpets carved hollow from human bones
Paraded valiantry unto the crust
Watered with the blood of the vanquished.
Chest ceremoniously adorned with skulls,
Each, the number of souls condemned
And marshalled with the blades of patroitism
Into the perpetual darkness of life beyond.
The agents of death merried in glory.

Conquest delight heightens another match.
They set to build another tower in Babel
And turn the land into a way of life,
Into a belief and a creed.
Resistance meets with deathblows
Fallen bodies turned to the foundation
And bricks of the great new city.
Bodies of heathens and savages,
Fed to the beast and plants fat.
Yet, all came from Adam
Their belief teaches.
