A Day Without You Poem by binti laye

A Day Without You

Panic rushed through my veins
Tough they were, the pains
Welled up like a flooded pound
For moments I wondered how the day would pass
Swollen eyeballs let down the sacked tears

For I had been so glued to you
That this separation could break my heart
Thought the world would shrink
As my eyelids twitch and blink
In response to your sudden absence

Even though I'm tied to you in thoughts
My world has reset to pristine mode
And it's glad I'm rid of the toxins you

The morning was bleak
But now I feel free
To have unchained my being
From your deepening dungeon

Bittersweet
But, glad to learn
That the world would wind
Timelessly without you.
