A Dead Leaf Poem by Sumit Vishisht

A Dead Leaf

A dead leaf rests upon the ground,
And I see myself in what I've found.
As a branch once held the tree with care,
My father's love was always there.
The leaf was safe in the branch's embrace,
I was safe in my father's guiding grace.
A storm arrived, the branch gave way,
My light, my shelter, slipped away.
The leaf turns brown, my heart feels pain,
I hide my tears like silent rain.
Both were taken before their time,
By fate's quiet, cruel design.
Yet in the soil the leaf will lie,
Helping new roots reach for the sky.
And in my heart, my father stays,
In his words, his values, his ways.
So when I see a fallen leaf,
I don't see only loss or grief.
From broken bonds, I learn to be
Stronger than what the world can see.
